 Hello grade 5 families. A small reminder that tomorrow is a PD day and there are no school for students. Also, if you have any outstanding forms (Human Sexuality and Nutrition learning) can you please send them with your child on Monday. =) Here are some highlights this week. EARTH DAY - Teamwide 5B schoolyard clean-up. Thanks guys! MATH - Introduction to Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions INDOOR GARDENING - preamble for our Body Systems and Plant Transport Systems in Science LITERACY - Building a visual of vocabulary learned during out read aloud.  Hey families of 5B, Here are a few reminders and upcoming dates as well. Link is here:  https://northernlights.cbe.ab.ca/news/complete-your-enrolment-intentions-form-20260416181648 Look forward to a newlestter and permission form coming home next week about an in-school nutrition learning opportunity in early May. Save the date! This week students were busy with DrumFit which was super fun! As well, they demonstrated their understadning of Area and Perimeter on a SWYK, in an interview-style assessment with me, as well as by designing a graden plan for part of our schoolyard which they measured out. They wrote persuasive paragraphs about their favorite sport, and we look forward to a final persuasive writing piece next week. Students will be arguing / trying to persuade the reader of their writing which energy source is the best. As we continue reading A Rover Story , students are deepening MANY comprehension skills. These include, PREDICTING, INFERRING, CONNECTING, QUESTIONIN...

  IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES: April 16 – Papa Johns Fun Lunch / Cobs Treat Day (order at  healthyhunger.ca  by April 11 if interested in participating) April 22 – EARTH DAY SPIRIT DAY: Wear blue or green for Earth Day April 24 – Non-Instruction Day – No school for students Highlights from the week! Editing paragraphs for ideas and details for our persuasive writing learning. Sharing Expert Stations Research for Literacy Stations Creating rectangles with the same area with DIFFERENT perimeters, as well as comparing different units of measurement in the real world. Ask your child how many square centimeters are in one square meter? We look forward to a SWYK in math later next week.   Mixing liquids to detemine the densities of liquids. We will have a very relaxed SWYK next week so the students can demonstrate their understanding of matter concepts. Have a fantastic weekend!
