Well, well, well!! It was such a busy week here is grade 5. The grade 5s participated in tie-dying their t-shirts for the celebration on June 24th. They also painted a beautiful Northern Lights scene on canvas as a departing gift paid for by School Council (Thank You School Council)! As well, the students finished presenting their Literacy Expert Stations which is always entertaining. All of the grade 5 students finished signing the Grade 5 Legacy Tree Pot (again supplied by School Council), which is funded by all of the fundraising opportunities at Northern Lights School. Lastly, in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day, we made bannock with our grade 2 learning buddies and shared it together. Highlights from Grade 5 Sharing Our Voices Through Poetry Students have been exploring poetry and expressing their thoughts, feelings, and creativity through writing. One of the most exciting parts of this experience was sharing our poems with each other and with our Grade 2 buddies . This opportunity helped students: Build confidence in reading aloud Practice clear expression and storytelling Connect with younger learners as role models Sharing poetry with Grade 2 students created a meaningful sense of audience and purpose. They explored texture, form, and detail whi...

Bus Registation for 2026-2027 School Year

Image
Did you sign up for the school bus for 26-27 if needed?   Hello families, We heard from CBE Transportation today that only 28 families have registered for the school bus for next year (out of the 157 families that needed the school bus this year).   Early registration is essential to ensure your child can ride the bus to get to school and back at the start of the school year. Families who require school bus transportation for 2026–2027 must pre-register through their MyCBE Parent account. Registering this month is critical —families who miss the deadline may experience up to a six- to eight-week delay in accessing bus service while their child is being added to the system. (This means you would need to get your child to and from school without the bus for up to six to eight weeks while registrations get processed.) Avoid delays and ensure a smooth start to the school year by registering as soon as possible. Thanks!
