 Here are some updates and highlights from the week! Thank you for coming to parent-teacher conferences. As always, it helps us to better undertand your child and keep that school-home connection strong. We are learning the flight museum early that anticipated due to some bussing. This doesn't affect anyone really, but here is the updated times from the museum. Program #1: 10:00 - 11:45 Lunch: 11:45 - 12:15 Program #2: 12:15 - 2:00 Please remember to send an easy lunch, snack and water for the trip on Wednesday. Social Studies: We are learning about the beginnings of civiliations such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China and Greece (there are others as well that will be referenced over the year). Ask your chid what these terms mean to provoke some discussion. -nomadic -agriculture -ancient -civilization Writing: Students are engages in procedural writing which will connect to the scientific method and conducting experients related to flight and buoyancy in science. Hi Grade 5 families. Here are some highlights for the week! Please stay tuned for information about the Science Fair that will be shared next week! Math: finished off our coordinate geometry unit - had a Show What You Know practiced directions on a coordinate grid by giving directions to a peer with their eyes closed created maps of communities on coordinate grids with directions Writing and Science: wrote a story about about a secret garden as a grade five writing sample to share at conferences started learning about procedural writing and what makes for a good procedure wrote about how to make a paper airplane and then flew some airplanes around =) learned about some of the forces of flight in preparation for our fieldtrip in two weeks Field Study and Buddies: we went outside and noticed what was NATURAL in our school community and what was MAN-MADE in our school community and of the items found, what was POSITIVE to discover and what envoked NEGATIVE feelings met up with our grade 2...

 Hi there, As a reminder, there is no school until next Thursday, November 13th. As well, there iare picture retakes on November 19th for those needing photos. Parent / teacher learning conferences with your child are on November 27th and November 28th. Lastly, we have a field trip to The Hangar Flight Museum December 2nd.
