Social Studies / Literacy
Next Week students will be learning about a specifc ancient civilization and taking purposeful notes to put into a Slides Presentation for sharing. It might look something like this.





Health / Wellness
It was all about social media this week. Did you know that you HAVE to be 13 to join most social media platforms? Ask your child about all of the Social Media Platforms they listed. Here are some conversation starters for home.

-How do you feel on some social media sites
-What are the benefits of socail media?
-What are some consequences of social media?
-How do you have secure passwords?
-How do you stay safe online?
-How ling is TOO long on technology?

Remember to wear a PINK Shirt on Wednesday in recognition of Pink Shirt Day.

Welcome to Grade 5!

Welcome !  We are so excited to be starting the 2025-2026 school year with you!  This year, our whole school will continue to use Blogger to make regular agenda posts.     To make it easier for you, you can add the blog right on to the home screen of your phone or iPad, or tablet.  We hope this makes communication between home and school easier and opens great conversations between you and your children .     The CBE and Mrs. Brinson will be communicating information to you through School Messenger email s titled , ‘Northern Lights News for ___ ”. Hello families of grade 5! Important Updates Sept 11 - Terry Fow Fundraising begins Sept 18 - Terry Fox Run Sept 24 - Youthlink Presentation for grade 5 Sept 26 - Orange Shirt Day Sept 29 and 30 - No school Oct 2 - Picture day This is what we got up to this week! Organizing for literacy centers including: BUDDY READING, INDEPENDENT READING, LITERACY GAMES MATH - LEARNING how to build read, write and understand BIG and SMALL numbers up to 1 million (1 000 000) and as small as 1 thousandth (0.001) Please review this with your kids at home. Our next step will be to add and subract numbers within this range. P.E. - Did you know that we have P.E. everyday Monday to Thursday? We continue to work on collaborative team building and following expected routines in the gym with Mr. Newton. Have a wonderful warm weekend.
