May 25-29
Here are this weeks highlights!
In math, students have been investigating numerical patterns, identifying relationships and extending sequences. This work is helping them build a strong foundation as they begin to transition into early algebraic thinking, where recognizing patterns and describing rules becomes essential.
In literacy, students explored language through a creative lens by writing poetry from different perspectives. This activity encouraged them to think deeply about voice, point of view, and expression while developing their confidence as writers.
Students also engaged in creative art integration through:
- Name art (One Perspective Design), where they applied visual depth and perspective techniques
- Bubble name art, allowing them to experiment with lettering, design, and personal expression
These projects not only supported creativity but also helped strengthen fine motor skills and attention to detail.
To support foundational literacy skills, students participated in expert stations and focused on word sorts, where they explored and practiced recognizing spelling patterns. By grouping and analyzing words, students developed a better understanding of how words are structured, improving both reading and spelling accuracy.
Across all areas, it has been wonderful to see students:
- Take creative risks
- Build confidence in expressing ideas
- Strengthen pattern recognition in both math and language
- Collaborate and share their thinking
